We aim to make a positive impact on our local community ranging through community fundraising to hands-on volunteerism. We are proud to work with non-profit and local community organizations, and share a vision for a just and sustainable world. We aspire to create a unique business environment that combines financial success with social responsibility. We believe that good business starts with good people doing good as this drives the fundamentals of success.
We actively participate in philanthropic efforts within Sonoma, Mendocino, Sta Rita Hills and the greater Bay Area that create opportunities for the local community. We believe that supporting and investing in local organizations is the right thing to do.
Our commitment to community was put to the test during the devastating 2017 wildfires that swept through Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake Counties—the worst wildfires California had experienced in modern history. More than 200,000 acres burned, 5,700 homes, businesses, and wineries were destroyed, and 42 lives were lost. While several of our employees sustained significant property damage, we are deeply grateful that no members of the HALL and WALT family were injured. Amid the destruction, the resilience and generosity of our community were extraordinary.
Firefighters and first responders traveled from across the country and beyond to help. In response, Craig and Kathryn Hall helped raise more than $1,000,000 for wildfire relief through a dollar-for-dollar donation match, the donation of October tasting fees to charitable organizations, and by opening SENZA Hotel to individuals and families displaced by the fires.
In addition to disaster relief efforts, we host and support community-focused events throughout the year. One of the most notable is the annual Cabernet Cookoff, Napa Valley's largest food and wine competition. The event brings together renowned chefs who create small bites paired with HALL Cabernet Sauvignon while competing on behalf of charities of their choice. Since its inception, Cabernet Cookoff has raised more than $500,000 for Napa Valley charities.
Today, we continue to support organizations that make a meaningful impact on education, healthcare, wellness, environmental stewardship, animal welfare, the arts, and social services throughout wine country and beyond, including:

In Spring 2023, our Sustainable Garden welcomed volunteers from Soroptimist International of St. Helena for a successful harvest of flowers and fresh vegetables, all of which were donated to community organizations serving local families and individuals in need. Through our garden program, we partner with Soroptimist International of St. Helena, Napa Emergency Women's Services (NEWS), Monarch Justice Center, Community Action of Napa Valley (CANV), and local food banks to provide fresh produce and floral arrangements throughout the community.
Soroptimist International of St. Helena is a non-profit organization that advocates on behalf of women and girls in our community. They volunteer their time along with HALL Wines employees to harvest, distribute, and deliver to local organizations that serve our community.
NEWS is dedicated to providing safety, hope, healing and empowerment for survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.
The Monarch Justice Center provides services to who has experiences or been impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, child abuse, elder abuse, dependent adult abuse, or human trafficking. Both organizations have welcomed deliveries of floral arrangements for survivors, staff and volunteers.
CANV or Community Action of Napa Valley operates as the Food Bank, Meals on Wheels for Napa County, Wellness on Wheels and two licensed pre-schools for low in-come students. In accomplishing their mission, part of the Food Bank program is the Napa Food Pantry which offers seven locations. CANV is happy to accept all available fruits and vegetables from our garden.
